I'm an American technologist, entrepreneur, hacker, horologist, and cryptographer. I'm also the guy behind RyanFay.com (naturally). For the past 10-years, I have been focusing my efforts on the art of compassionate leadership. What I have learned along the way is that delivering a strategy for scaling a global business is easy; scaling a global team, however, is much more difficult. In order to shift from preservation to innovation at scale, your team must wholeheartedly believe in both your ability to lead and your ability to execute. In order to focus on what matters, I have been working to streamline my habits, thoughts, and decision making to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. My approach to advising business strategy combines concepts from a wide range of disciplines — technology, engineering, sociology, law, and more. My goal is to build a diverse team of folks who are driven by solving complex problems and want to be part of something meaningful and influential.
My work has been covered by dozens of major media outlets. I have a deep passion for developing and leading teams by promoting others to realize their full potential. I have worked with some of the smartest and innovative people and have learned what motivates, drives and inspires others to excel. I don't have all the answers, but I always enjoy sharing with others what I've learned so far on my journey.
In defining the unique aspects of my approach to being a naturally curious and open-minded person, I am outlining a philosophy or paradigm more than anything else. My philosophy begins with the idea that business success is a definable, understandable process for which a unified theory can be created. This is not to say that every specific detail that plays a part in a successful business can be perfectly predicted and understood. Rather, there exist trends of what a successful business encompasses, great teams, culture and a product that is able to be scaled.
What drives me is a simple, but compelling question: what can I do today that will make a positive impact for tomorrow? The first way I try to answer that question is to break it down into bite-size pieces. What are the fundamental forces that shape our definition of a positive? What common misconceptions do we have about the way the world works? What are the organizing principles that determine the growth and improvement of humanity? What do we aspire to accomplish in our lifetime?
The second way I try to answer that question is to apply these insights to everyday life. What are the most effective ways to turn proven scientific research into tangible results? How can we then overcome our own mental barriers and the roadblocks in our lives? How can we become the architect of our future, rather than a bystander just watching as the world changes before our eyes into a place that we no longer recognize?
What tasks do we perform daily that we enjoy and which tasks are done simply to survive?
My ultimate goal is to answer a question that lies at the core of what it means to thrive: is it possible to inspire, encourage and enhance not only my family's but everyone's quality of life. If so, how? My hope is that every day we all make small positive decisions that add up to large positive changes. These questions drive my passion and shape my journey as a naturally curious and open-minded person. So, what really matters to you? I'd love to learn more about you and your business.
